Since our last update on Thursday the 22nd, Dallas underwent her G-tube surgery, and thankfully, everything seems to be healing well without complications. We’ve transitioned from Heparin (administered via IV) to Xarelto, an oral medication, which is a great step forward as it allows Dallas to be untethered from her IV’s and more mobile... more snuggles and couch time!

Her echocardiogram on Monday looked great, and her D-Dimer levels—a blood test that indicates clot formation or breakdown—came in at 337. Under 500 is considered normal, so this is especially encouraging given that it was over 4,000 around May 2nd and 740 about a week ago.

The most significant news is that we’re finalizing the details of transitioning to Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte for their Pediatric Inpatient Rehabilitation program. Coordinating the logistics—such as the G-tube placement and adjusting anticoagulants—has been a complex process over the last week, but we’ve tackled them all. We’re hopeful to have a definitive answer today, and it appears that Thursday or Friday is the likely timeframe for the move.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Ronald McDonald House in Chapel Hill for accommodating us during this stay; their support has been invaluable. We’re also deeply thankful for the birthday cards, gifts, and messages of hope and encouragement you’ve sent, as they’ve brightened our days immensely.

As our time in Chapel Hill comes to a close, we kindly request that no additional cards or packages be sent to the Ronald McDonald House here, as retrieving them after our transition to Charlotte will be challenging. A referral to the Ronald McDonald House in Charlotte has been made, and we’re currently on the waiting list – fingers crossed that we get in quickly! Once we have a confirmed address for our accommodations there, we’ll be sure to share it with you here.

Thank you all for following and supporting us on this journey thus far. We’re eager to transition from UNC Children’s Hospital to Levine’s, where the next chapter’s primary focus will be on the rehabilitation that Dallas needs most.
