PopPop shared that Dallas was moving her head from side to side last night, maybe trying to get a bit more comfortable before bed. To us, that’s a win. Movement like that is always encouraging. Otherwise, it sounded like they had a quiet night and managed to get some decent rest.

Rounds were pretty quick this morning, which usually means there’s not too much to go over. Dallas is now off the “round the clockTylenol and shifting to an as-needed basis. Another small but meaningful step. Her feeds are running at full volume with no issues, which is a great sign. Her BMs have been consistent too, so we’re feeling hopeful that her system is handling the nutrition just the way we’d hoped.

The echocardiogram was repeated this morning. Compared to the last one on May 4th, the clot or “thing” is smaller. The hematologist even told us that if the cardiologist hadn’t known the recent history, he might have thought it looked like a normal scan. We’re feeling a little more solid about the potential anticoagulation plan, which we’ll revisit with the team tomorrow to finalize; hoping to hold off any changes until the first of the week.

PT and OT spent some time working with Dallas today. She’s still favoring the left, but her visual tracking has improved and she’s now turning her head and eyes toward audible stimulation in both directions.

Speech therapy came in and Dallas did well again handling water drops and working with the spoon. They introduced a new sensory tool today, dipped in water, which helped encourage her mouth and tongue movements. And today’s real highlight—Dallas had a little applesauce. Just a small taste, but food none the less. This is such a critical step, and it’s exactly what she needs to rebuild those oral skills. There’s a long way to go, but today, we’re celebrating that tiny spoonful.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away… applesauce is just doing it in style.” — Mark Twain (paraphrased humor)
