Dallas had a very peaceful night last night and a slow, relaxing Sunday! The doctors noted that her liver enzymes, which we had been monitoring, have dropped back to normal. They are increasing the dose of her new medication very slowly each day. Other than that, no big changes — and honestly, it feels so nice to not have much to talk to the doctors about.
This morning, Heather got to hold Dallas in the rocking chair while she listened to Frozen on her TonieBox. Snuggling in bed is always special, but there’s something even more magical about holding your baby in your arms. It was such a sweet and much-needed moment.
Overall, Dallas seemed more engaged today. We did notice she was uncomfortable at one point. When asked if she was okay, she shifted her eyes to the right. We’re still figuring out if that means “no” or if she’s trying to look toward the source of the pain — today, it was probably a little of both. Heather noticed Dallas was laying a bit on her central line tubes, so she gently repositioned her and asked, “Is that better?” Very clearly, we both heard Dallas try to use her voice — it sounded like a soft whisper: “yes.” It was amazing! She is trying SO hard to talk, and it was such a powerful moment to witness.
After some outside time, Dallas practiced with some ice chips again. She did well, just a little coughing, but she’s practicing and that’s what matters! Once we came back inside, the nurse helped Heather wash Dallas’ hair. It had been “a while,” so having warm water run over her hair must have felt wonderful.
Later in the afternoon, we got her out of bed for some stretching, tummy time, and even challenged her to sit on the bench and work on using her core and stabilizing her neck. She also got to lay on her belly, which was such a nice change from always being on her back or side in bed. After all that hard work, she was ready to call it a day.
Dallas got tucked back into bed, wiped down with her special wipes, changed into her comfy peaches pajamas — and she was OUT!
We are so incredibly grateful for a peaceful day. No excitement, no news… just calm. Our hope is that tomorrow will be a case of “rinse and repeat.“
