This Easter Sunday began with a peaceful rhythm: PopPop helping Dallas with some gentle stretching and doing some modified yoga poses from her bed.
The morning unfolded with a bit of festive cheer. Heather, Mumsie, PopPop, and I decorated her room with Easter touches—pastel decor, bunny ears, and a few cheerful bunny-themed things tucked around. We also put together goodie bags for the nurses and doctors, a small token of thanks for their constant care – and a gentle reminder that we can help their friends and family get connected with great Realtors like us in their area.
Later, with the green light from her medical team, we took Dallas outside for the first time in weeks. The sun was shining, the sky a clear Carolina blue, and the temperature hovered in the low 80s—perfect weather for a breath of fresh air. When we asked if she liked being outside, she gave what looked like an ever so slight nod. Grammy D joined us in the courtyard, up for the day from Wilmington, and we all sat together, soaking in the warmth and the joy of simply being outdoors.
Back in her room, it was time for a bird bath followed by a CHG (chlorhexidine gluconate) wipe-down—a routine part of her care to reduce infection risk, especially with her central line in place. They also got all of her linens changed out, and she was ready for an afternoon nap.
Tomorrow marks the start of the PLEX (plasma exchange) therapy we’ve anxiously awaited. We’re hopeful that this next step will support her recovery and bring renewed strength. Here’s to hope, renewal, and the promise of brighter days ahead!
