Short update today; PT/OT came to work with Dallas and got her sitting on edge of bed (while fully supported, of course). They asked Dallas to move/kick her leg and she was able to do so in response. While they were here, it seemed like she was trying to visually track her pink unicorn squishy toy as we moved it around. Sitting like this, even though fully supported, wore her out.

The absolute highlight of my (Brett’s) day was being able to hold Dallas in my arms while sitting in the rocking chair for a while after her PT/OT session was finished. There always seems to be so much distance between the hospital bed and bedside, so to close that gap – for just a little while – meant the WORLD to me.

Dallas seems to actually be sleeping, keeping eyes closed and evidenced by vitals. This tells us that her body is getting the rest it needs to heal. We’ve slowed the interval of cough assist treatments down from every 4 to 6 hours, and will likely go down to an “as needed” basis, so long as she continues to improve managing and clearing her mucus.

We continue to take things one day at time and cherish the smallest of wins as they happen.
